Meet Lisa Limer
Lisa founded Bela Monde in 2016, following a distinguished 20+ year career as a professional photographer —her work gracing the pages of such glossy publications as Marie Claire, Vogue, House and Gardens, Harper's Bazaar—alongside a 14-year exclusive contract with Conde Nast Traveler—and melded it into what is now the essence of Bela Monde. Using her expansive photographic archive, she crafts a fresh and distinct travel narrative, transforming elements of her images to honor the people, places, and cultures that have indelibly shaped her. These silk-patterned prints eloquently capture her journeys, serving as homage to our diverse and "Beautiful World."
After years of following her wanderlust and residing with her family in South America, NYC, and Europe, Lisa has returned to her birthplace, Providence, RI. This is where she was nurtured, earned her degree from The Rhode Island School of Design, and raised her two sons. It's a place she now proudly calls home and where she's rediscovered a dynamic community of artisans and friends.
Lisa's partnership with Johnnie began in 2021 and exemplifies the adage "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." Their collaborative ingenuity, shared values, and environmental consciousness has invigorated Bela Monde with new energy and ideas. This partnership embodies the belief that a lifetime of experiences holds immense value and that the pursuit of a creative life knows no limits.

Meet Johnnie Chace
Over the course of her life, Johnnie has had the opportunity to be a part of many experienced design teams; from historic restoration to interior design projects, all based in Providence, Rhode Island, her adopted hometown of 35 years. Her roots are deeply planted in Providence where she raised four children and involved herself in a wide range of community activities. She grew to love being a part of a team; whether raising funds for a new Children’s Museum or designing the interiors for many of downtown’s beautiful historic buildings.
Her perspective on design was enriched during her time as a college student in Nepal, where she realized that beauty's cultural ideals stem from a complex interplay of history and beliefs. Design, she understood, is a language that tells stories and reflects communities.Throughout her career, Johnnie's designs have drawn heavily from these past experiences as well as from her love of classical elements, infusing her projects with a sense of proportion and style.
A transformative moment ocurred when Johnnie met Lisa, sparking an intuitive and serendipitous connection that forever altered the course of their creative pursuits. Through her designs for Bela Monde, Johnnie weaves together her design aesthetic to craft mimimalist silhouettes rich in color and pattern.
